What inspired Canada Reads longlisted author Ahmad Danny Ramadan's debut novel?

"Writing this book was a healing process for me. … I believe that The Clothesline Swing tells a story that hasn't been heard before, and I hope that someone will listen."

Ahmad Danny Ramadan's first novel is about a storyteller trying to stave off the death of his partner by telling stories of their life together in Syria and beyond. The writer and gay refugee activist spoke about the inspiration for his book with CBC Radio's The Early Edition.

Danny Ramadan will be appearing in Nanaimo at a free event sponsored by ROAR. See our home page for more information.

We acknowledge that for thousands of years the Snuneymuxw people have walked gently on the unceded territories where we now live, work and play. We seek a relationship with the first peoples here based in honour and respect, and we thank them for their hospitality.
