In "No Place for Me: the Struggles of Sexual and Gender Minority Refugees", lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) urban refugees in Mexico, Uganda and South Africa tell their stories in their own powerful and authentic voices. This film, along with the first film of this series, “As I Am: Understanding the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity of Refugees”, shares personal accounts and expert interviews to make the journey safer for those who follow. The film documents what it feels like to be marginalized not only as a refugee, but also as a sexual and gender minority, and the toxic mix of social isolation, community violence, and denial of healthcare, legal protection, and employment that these doubly marginalized individuals continue to suffer from.
